Jason Porter joined Diamond McCarthy in September 2009. Jason represents institutional investors, developers, creditors' committees (ad-hoc and statutory) in connection with in-court and out-of-court restructurings. Additionally, Jason represents liquidators, receivers, and creditors in cross-border insolvency proceedings, including proceedings commenced under chapter 15 of the Bankruptcy Code.
Prior to joining the firm, Jason was an associate at Chadbourne & Parke LLP where he assisted in the representation, of among others, the Official Creditors' Committee in the Tribune Company bankruptcy cases and the ad hoc committee of swap counterparties in the out-of-court restructuring of the monoline insurance company, ACA Financial Guaranty.
Jason received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2007. While at Georgetown, Jason served as the Georgetown University Law Center American Bar Association Student Representative for 2006-2007. Jason also received his B.S. in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University in 2004. At Cornell Jason was a Meinig Family National Scholar, a National Achievement Scholar, and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Jason is licensed to practice law in New York and admitted to practice in the federal district courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Jason is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
