Sofia Adrogué, Partner at Diamond McCarthy, Participates in Houston's Trade & Investment Mission Delegation, Hosted in Argentina

Diamond McCarthy Partner, Sofia Adrogué, was selected as part of a small delegation to Latin America for a Trade & Investment Mission to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Led by the Mayor of Houston, Hon. Sylvester Turner, among the high-profile attendees from Texas, were the Chairman of the Port of Houston, Janiece M. Longoria, and the Director of the Houston Airport Systems, Mario Diaz.
Sofia sits on the 12-member Board of Houston First Corporation that is leading the effort to promote Houston as one of the great cities of the world. Houston First is a local government corporation that was formed in 2011. Houston First manages more than 10 city-owned buildings and properties. These facilities include the Hilton Americas-Houston hotel, George R. Brown Convention Center, Jones Hall for the Performing Arts (home to the Houston Symphony and Society for the Performing Arts), Wortham Theater Center (home to the Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera), Talento Bilingue de Houston, Miller Outdoor Theatre, Houston First Outdoors (which includes Jones Plaza and other smaller venues) and Theater District Parking, in addition to other outdoor facilities.
The Latin American Trade and Investment Mission was held in part in Buenos Aires, Argentina, July 19-20, 2018. The Mission focused on strengthening continued exchange and collaboration between Buenos Aires and Houston regarding tourism, transportation and other economic opportunities. Argentina remains an important trade partner for the City of Houston, and is recorded to have trade between the two locations valued at $2.4 billion in 2017.
In addition to being a part of the delegation, Ms. Adrogué introduced the Mayor of Houston at AmCham Argentina, the American Chamber of Commerce in Argentina, which was celebrating its 100th year anniversary. Proudly representing the City of Houston, Ms. Adrogué was honored to visit the Casa Rosada Presidential Palace, attend a reception held at U.S. Ambassador Edward Prado’s official residence, as well as be present during a meeting between Hon. Sylvester Turner and Hon. Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, the Chief of Government of Buenos Aires, during the execution of the joint signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, focused on exchange of collaboration between Buenos Aires and Houston in tourism and transportation.
Ms. Adrogué’s continued involvement with and commitment to her local community, the City of Houston and abroad, continues to inspire, motivate and expand Diamond McCarthy’s reach through a variety of civic and business ventures both within and outside of the legal field.
