Diamond McCarthy Partner Sofia Adrogué Honored with City of Houston Proclamation

January 7, 2019

Diamond McCarthy is pleased to announce Houston Partner Sofia Adrogué received a City of Houston proclamation of December 18, 2018 as “Sofia Adrogué Day.” The proclamation is reserved for honoring citizens, places or events that positively contribute to the economic, social and cultural identity of the City of Houston.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner presented Sofia with the honor, recognizing her for her endless dedication and service to Houston community through her involvement with BARC—a non-profit fundraising organization that strives to improve the quality of animal life within the City and those in the City of Houston BARC Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. The City of Houston commended Sofia for her service and her determined efforts of both raising awareness and funding to support homeless and at-risk animals throughout the community.

Sofia has served on the Houston BARC Foundation Board of Directors for three years since the organization’s founding in 2016, including as Chair of the Advisory Board and envisioned, founded and chaired the BARK for BARC Pet Walk. The annual fundraising event takes place each spring and is held at Rice University and has raised a total of $250,000 to date. Funds from the Pet Walks have supported, among other things, post-Hurricane Harvey animal wellness efforts and contributed to the completion of the cat adoption and kennel area in BARC’s adoption center. Commending her tireless community and civic work in a diverse array of areas as well as her dedication to the legal field, the City of Houston also has previously recognized Sofia with a proclamation of July 10, 2004 as "Sofia Adrogué Day."
