José M. González
An Associate in Diamond McCarthy’s Houston office, José's practice focuses on complex international commercial litigation and corporate matters.
He has experience with case strategy development for international commercial litigation, as well as trial preparation, assisting with depositions under both civil law and common law formats, discovery proceedings, and overseeing letters rogatory and cross-border court petitions between U.S. and Mexican Courts.
Relating to corporate matters, José has experience with drafting a wide variety of agreements including letters of intent, national and foreign sale-purchase agreements, employment agreements, and non-disclosure agreements. He also has experience in overseeing due diligence and negotiations in M&A, corporate governance for foreign corporations with Mexican subsidiaries, compliance with Mexican regulations, and other governmental filings.
José graduated, with distinction, from the Masters of Law (LLM) program and received his International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution Certificate, Deans List, from Georgetown University Law Center. In addition, he was a Board Member of the Georgetown Law Association of Mexican Students, and a member of the Latin-American Law Students Association and OutLaw (Georgetown Law Center’s LGBT Student Association).
José received his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), where he was a recipient of the “Student Leadership Award” from the Student Affairs Department and graduated in the International Modality of the Bachelor of Laws program. During his undergraduate career, José served as Student Philanthropy Coordinator at SALED, Coordinator of ITESM’s 2009 and 2010 Law School International Symposiums, and was a member of the Cambio Yo, Cambia México Leadership Program. José also studied abroad for a year at Sciences Po (L’Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris) in Paris, France.
José is fluent in Spanish and French and previously served as a certified translator in English and French by the State Supreme Court in Monterrey, México for three years.
