International and domestic business clients rely on Lauren Valastro for complex commercial litigation involving a diverse range of issues and disputes, including contractual, indemnification, insolvency, energy, director and officer liability, and more. With clients throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, Lauren has the experience and versatility to not only handle every phase of litigation and arbitration matters throughout the U.S., but also to manage local counsel for U.S. clients involved in disputes abroad.

Lauren also defends businesses in challenging environmental actions involving the EPA and state regulatory agencies. She has guided clients through litigation and investigations, including remediation and restoration of contaminated properties, cost-recovery and contribution actions under CERCLA, RCRA and state counterparts, condemnation proceedings, tribal issues, claims for property and economic damages, and cases concerning the assessment of natural resource injuries and recovery of damages.

Lauren’s first-chair trial experience includes obtaining a total victory for her client, and an award of all attorneys’ fees, in a breach of contract, fraud, and business disparagement case.  She also has experience with all aspects of trial procedure and evidence, with a particular focus on submissions to the jury and the admissibility of technical and scientific expert evidence.

Protecting clients at the appellate level is also a significant strength of Lauren’s work, whether she’s seeking reversal of an unfavorable trial court decision or defending a favorable one. She has argued appeals involving complex business and procedural issues, including cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the Delaware Supreme Court and several Texas appellate courts.

Lauren graduated first in her college class from Texas Tech University, summa cum laude with honors, with a B.A. in Spanish and Political Science and received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Texas Tech University School of Law.  In law school, Lauren served as Editor of the Texas Tech Law Review and clerked for Judge Ruben G. Reyes in the 72nd Judicial District of Texas. She also graduated from the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Pathfinder Program and has authored a number of publications on natural resource damages, preemption in evolving energy markets, custody dispute standards and more.
