Diamond McCarthy Partner, Sofia Adrogué, envisioned, organized and chaired Houston’s Third Annual BARK for BARC Pet Walk in Houston, Texas. Organized by BARC’s Board of Directors and working in conjunction with Rice University, the pet walk promoted raising funds for the City of Houston’s Animal Shelter and Adoptions Center and to support the foundation’s mission of giving Houston’s homeless pets a second chance to finding a new home.
Ms. Adrogué is a member of the Houston BARC Foundation’s Board of Directors, Chair of the Advisory Board, and had the opportunity to assist once again in the organization of this year’s BARK for BARC Pet Walk that took place April 28, 2018 at Rice University. The event had near 300 participants and included the recognition of Honorary Chair, Houston Astros’ pitcher, Lance McCullers Jr.. With much success, the pet walk was able to raise over $105,000 for the care of Houston’s homeless animals.
The walk also brought attention to the organization’s assistance in August of 2017. The devastating aftermath of 2017’s Hurricane Harvey left the City of Houston with months of reconstruction. The BARC foundation helped play a crucial role in working with other animal welfare organizations across the nation to rescue, foster, and assist with displaced pets after the disaster. After much dedication and hard work, the organization helped find forever homes for more than 380 animals and assisted with the coordination of transferring over 1,000 animals to outside rescue groups in the mission to keep lost animals safe and healthy following the tragedy.
